Agent Dynamo vs n8n

n8n is a workflow tool for technical teams. Dynamo is an agent platform for the departments that aren't. Where each one fits, on the axes an enterprise buyer checks.

n8n is a strong choice for technical teams who want to wire workflows by hand and host them anywhere. It has a large library of nodes, a fair-code licence, and a community that has already answered most questions.

Dynamo is built for the other teams. Finance, legal, HR, and operations need agents that run inside their own permissions and audit trail, without an engineer at the keyboard, and they need the engineers who have done this before to stay until it runs.

 Agent Dynamon8n
Who builds the agentThe team that runs the process writes the agent, in plain English, with exact steps where a step has to be exact.—
Where it runsYour cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP), Kubernetes, or your own servers.—
PermissionsEach agent runs with the permissions of the person who started it, and nothing more.—
Audit trailEvery step on record: what the agent read, what it did, and what it cost.—
TestingRegression suites on last month's real cases, run on every change.—
Model choiceAny model. Each task routed to the one our benchmarks rank best, switchable without rebuilding the agent.—
ApprovalsA person signs off wherever money or a customer is on the line.—
Promotion to productionDev, staging, production, with a check at each gate.—
Pricing modelPer deployment, engineers included. No per-seat licence and no per-run meter.—

Choose n8n if

  • Your builders are engineers who are comfortable wiring nodes and reading JSON.
  • You want to self-host a workflow tool and own every part of it yourself.
  • The processes you are automating don't touch money, customers, or regulated data.

Choose Agent Dynamo if

  • The people who run the process should be able to build and change the agent.
  • Security has to sign off once, on permissions and an audit trail, not on every workflow.
  • You want a model benchmark behind each task, and the option to switch models without a rebuild.
  • You want people alongside your team through the first production agent, not a forum.

Questions buyers ask

Can Dynamo do what n8n does?

Both connect systems and run steps on a trigger. The difference is who builds it and what surrounds it: Dynamo agents are written in plain English by the team that owns the process, run inside that person's permissions, and keep a record of each step. n8n gives a technical builder more direct control over each node.

Can we run both?

Yes. Teams sometimes keep n8n for engineering-owned plumbing and put Dynamo in front of the departments. A Dynamo agent can call an existing workflow through its API.

Is Dynamo self-hosted?

It runs in your own cloud, on Kubernetes, or on your own servers. Traces go to the observability stack you already run.

How is it priced?

Per deployment, with the engineers included. There is no per-seat licence and no per-run meter, so the whole company can build without watching a counter.
